Shopping

MX Book Finder - Searches multiple sites for new and used books and permits comparison on price, store location, format, and condition (between alternatives comparison). Links to the individual store web pages give additional attributes for a selected title (within alternative evaluation).
Jango - this service is no longer available for download but can be accessed via the Excite shopping channel.
The Excite Shopping Channel - Searches for products that meet specified criteria and displays hits within a table that permits between- and within-alternative evaluation. Clicking on an attribute name sorts the alternatives on that attribute, permitting an elimination-by-aspects approach. Links display additional attributes and enable more extensive within-alternative evaluations for a selected alternative.
Price Watch - Online catalogue of computer components. Select a component and a list of vendors is displayed in a table together with product description and vendor details. Records are sorted by price with prices entered in the last 24 hours displayed in red.
Bargain Finder - Prototype web agent will search for music online.
Fido - The shopping doggie. Search for an item (may specify price range) or browse categories.
Roboshopper - Searches a web database for specified items. Also has product reviews.
Netguide - Has become more of a shopping metasite with links to online vendors and top-10 shopping site lists etc. as well as guides for shopping online and product selection tips.
Microsoft Carpoint - One of the most impressive online sites from the perspective of decision support. Permits evaluation both within and between alternatives. Enables norm setting by using Kelley Blue Book to establish a standard price for a particular make and model. The Compare feature permits pair-wise comparison of alternatives across multiple pre-specified attributes. There is also a virtual reality style feature that enables users to look around the interior of new cars. The used-car classifieds has some useful features. All available cars for a specified make are displayed in a table and can be sorted on several attributes. Alternatives can be marked for elimination. The query interface also has sliders that enables users to specify ranges rather than point values for price, mileage, and distance between home location and the dealer. Each alternative has a link to the dealer's web site.
Netmarket - Specify a product category and additional attributes and the tool first displays a table listing products and prices. Items can be selected for comparison in a table with attributes displayed in rows. The comparison table provides elimination support only.
BotSpot - A site that maintains a list of new agents.
BuyComp - A site that appears to have the best prices for computer stuff. I've ordered several thousand $$ from them so far with no problems (this is not an endorsement!).
